Attack of the Clones & Revenge of the Sith 3D Release Dates Announced!

While today may be the last day of Celebration VI, there was still a big announcement to be made. Today at the closing ceremonies, the release dates for both “Attack of the Clones” and “Revenge of the Sith” 3D were announced by none other than the Emperor himself, Ian McDiarmid in a video message!

“Attack of the Clones” 3D will be released on September 20th 2013, while “Revenge of the Sith” will be released on October 11th 2013.

I was not expecting both movies to be released in the same year, let alone within one month of each other, but I’m not complaining! It’s gonna be great seeing two Star Wars movies on the big screen again within a short time frame!

Celebration VI: Description Of New Clips Shown From The Clone Wars Panel!

The first Clone Wars panel from Celebration VI that had new preview clips of season 5 has just wrapped up, and we have your descriptions of those amazing clips that were shown! Below are the descriptions of the clips Dave Filoni brought with him by Kyle, who was in attendance at the panel:

[blockquote cite=]1st Clip– There was a very Avatar-looking battle taking place on Onderon. We first see rebels hiding in trees, and then see some of the rebels that were riding, walking, and on flying creatures ambush an army of battle droids. The rebels are winning until droid gunships show up and start blowing them away. We then see Ahsoka and Lux retreat with the rebel leader.

2nd Clip– This was a scene shown in Anakin’s bedroom in the Jedi temple. Anakin and Obi-Wan have a tense discussion about Anakin’s feelings for Padme.

3rd Clip– We got to see R2 and several other astromech droids, along with a tiny alien Republic officer, flying a ship through a comet shower.

4th Clip– A continuation from the 3rd clip, we saw those same droids on a planet escorted by a clone commando, who fought off battle droids while R2 & friends snuck past them.

5th Clip– Maul, Savage, Vizsla, Bo Katan & Death Watch landing at a Black Sun fortress on Mustafar, and then meeting some Faleen gangsters.

6th Clip– The last clip was on Mandalore, and showed Bo Katan and a few other Mandalorians rescuing a captive Obi-Wan from several other Mandalorians in red-painted armor.

After the last clip, A surprised guest came out and talked about Clone Wars for a few minutes. The surprised guest was none other than George Lucas!! The Crowd went ballistic when he came out.

They than showed the new trailer which included some of the stuff in the clips, along with new episode 3 Jedi starfighters, Ahsoka dueling an armored dark Jedi who looked a lot like Ventress, Darth Maul in red and black mandalorian armor, A red clone commander gunning down super battle droids, Yoda talking about someone trying to destroy the Jedi temple, Anakin getting jealous of Padme and Rush Clovis, and probably the coolest shot of the trailer, Sidious dueling Maul and Savage with TWO lightsabers!!![/blockquote]

Wow! Lots of awesome stuff seemed to be shown at this panel, and then to have George Lucas make an appearance there as well, just might have made this panel the highlight of CVI! From the descriptions of those scenes and the new trailer, season 5 looks to be the best season yet for Clone Wars! I absolutely can’t wait to see Sidious battle with Maul and Savage. That’s going to be an amazing sequence!

Celebration VI: Highlights & Details From The Star Wars Detours Panel

Now that we finally got to see what Star Wars Detours will look like, some other info about the show was revealed today at Celebration VI. Here are some of the details that the developers of the show discussed today at the Star Wars Detours Panel:

[blockquote cite=]The series takes place in-between Episodes III and IV, and will be a comedic take on the Star Wars world.

The show will focus on what these characters do in their downtime during their mundane lives. Collaborator Todd Grimes describes the show with these questions: “Where do Gamorrean Guards grocery shop? Does Darth Vader do online dating? The answer is yes. We answer all these things.”

A lot of Star Wars Detours will be spent on Tatooine, including familiar locations like the Cantina and the Lars homestead.

Describing Darth Vader for the show, the producers joked that since the Galaxy is at peace during this time, Darth Vader is a bit restless. Matt Senreich said this about him, “He’s the guy cutting ribbons at the supermarket. He’s got nowhere else to be right now. He’s got nothing to do.”

Speaking about Jar Jar for the show, Seth Green says, “The places Jar Jar goes… will make you love Jar Jar.”

Seth Green, Matt Senreich and Todd Grimes said that the Falcon in the show was completely based off the original toy version, which is why we see the canopy opening up, and the removable table.

As for the voice actors in the show, it was announced that Billy Dee Williams will be back playing Lando for the series, along with Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Catherine Taber as Princess Leia, and Ahmed Best as Jar-Jar. Zachary Levi will voice Biff Tarkin, Grand Moff Tarkin’s son, while Breckin Myer and Donald Faison will play the two Stormtroopers seen in the trailer. Dee Bradley Baker will also voice several characters in the series, including an old Clone Trooper who’s upset with the modern Stormtroopers (That sounds awesome!). Other voice actors announced were Abraham Benrubi, Cree Summers, Nat Faxon, Felicia Day and Weird Al Yankovic. Seth Green will be voicing Salacious Crumb

There was no exact air date or network announced for Star Wars Detours yet, but it will more than likely premiere in 2013.

So far with the trailer and clips shown, and the info revealed at the panel, I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Star Wars Detours!

Celebration VI: First Star Wars Detours Trailer Debuts!

The long awaited official announcement of the new animated Star Wars series by Seth Green & Matt Senreich has been revealed today, and as many predicted, is in fact called Star Wars Detours, and the first trailer for the new series has made it’s debut!

While the animation style has more exaggerated character designs than I was expecting, the tone of the show looks to be right up there with the Robot Chicken Star Wars specials, which is in my opinion, definitely a good thing.

Celebration VI: Ian McDiarmid Panel Highlights

Ian Mcdiarmid made his first appearance at a Star Wars convention today at Celebration VI, which was no doubt one of the main highlights of the whole convention, where he went on to discuss many things about Emperor Palpatine, including his thoughts on the possibility of playing Palpatine again! Here are some the highlights from the panel:

[blockquote cite=]On Palpatine’s origins mentioned in the opera scene in Revenge of the Sith, he says, “It would be nice if one day they would be followed up… who knows?”

He also brought up the much delayed live action T.V. show on his own, and hopes that one day all the issues causing the delays can be worked out.

When asked if he would return as Palpatine in the live-action series, he replied with a big grin, “Well… what do you think?” “If he happened to pop up in the script I would hate if it was to go live and someone else were to be in it.” He then says “Who knows if Palpatine would be in it? It could be like A New Hope. There could be a terrific representative — and by god, Peter Cushing was a terrific actor — doing the emperor’s bidding.”

On which actor he enjoyed working with the most, he mentioned Hayden Christensen saying, “His performance is greatly underrated. I really liked him.”

On which version of Palpatine stuck out the most to him, McDiarmid responded, “I felt most evil when I was playing the Senator, because he was so recognizable as a contemporary politician.”

McDiarmid told stories about coming up with the Emperor’s distinctive voice in Return of the Jedi, after deciding the character looked like “a black, slimy toad.”

He remembered showing up to record ADR for Return of the Jedi, where he was still not sure if Lucas was happy with the voice he used on set and would want it changed. But when Steven Spielberg saw McDiarmid and exclaimed, “Oh my god, you’re so evil!”, he decided the voice had worked and he was okay.

On Christopher Lee, McDiarmid mentioned how he was jokingly upset about he would no longer be the only character who could use Force Lightining anymore.
    [/blockquote]

It sounded like this was an awesome discussion to be a part of! It’s also really cool to hear that he would be open to playing Palpatine again! And how awesome would that be to have Ian Mcdiarmid return as Palpatine in the live-action series!? One can only hope.

Celebration VI: Star Wars 1313 Panel Highlights

Celebration VI is now in full swing, and both Mike & Kyle are out on the show floor hitting the many different panels! One of the first big panels to be held on day one was the first Star Wars 1313 panel. Kyle was in attendance for that panel, and here’s what he had to say on what was shown at the Star Wars 1313 panel:

[blockquote cite=]”They showed the recent gameplay trailer and a couple behind the scenes videos about the development team behind the game an the Coruscant underworld environment. One of the developers also played a live demo of an early level of the game and it looked awesome! It was the same level that all the footage we’ve seen so far has come from, but there was some new stuff in there as well. They also hinted that we’ll see familiar characters in the game, and that certain characters in the demo may be placeholders for characters they aren’t ready to reveal yet (Boba Fett perhaps?).”[/blockquote]

It looks like there wasn’t too much new info announced at the panel, but the comment about certain characters in the demo just being placeholders is definitely interesting. Here’s hopping we see several classic bounty hunters show up in the game such as Boba Fett like Kyle mentioned.

Celebration VI is just getting started, so stay tuned for more news and panel highlights here at Frontlines!
