Before Star Wars Rebels hits the airwaves next fall, we can be sure that Lucasfilm and Disney will be doing a lot of promotion for the show before it airs. Well now thanks to an updated post over at the Edelweiss Disney Book Group page for a Star Wars Rebels tie-in book, some details about their marketing campaign have been revealed, which gives us an idea of what releases we can expect to see to help promote Star Wars Rebels next year. Here are those details:
[blockquote cite=””]A NEW ERA: Star Wars Rebels is a CG animated series that takes place between the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The series gives TV viewers their first-ever glimpse into this exciting period and the genesis of the Rebel movement.
TERRIFIC TEASERS: Four short-form interstitials will release in Summer 2014, introducing viewers to the characters of Star Wars Rebels. In Fall 2014, a one-hour debut special will air on Disney Channel and Disney XD, followed by the series rollout on Disney XD
TOP TALENT: Under the supervision of Executive Producers Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Avatar: The Last Airbender), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) and Greg Weisman (Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Gargoyles), Star Wars Rebels boasts the talents of the production team that brought us the hugely successful and Emmy winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.
SUPER SYNERGY: Star Wars Rebels will have A-level company-wide marketing in Summer/Fall 2014, as well as a huge push across consumer product divisions, including digital, electronics, toys, apparel, stationery, and home furnishings.[/blockquote]
While the description of the show and details about the crew are all stuff we know already, the promotion and marketing plan revealed definitely gave us some good insight on what we can expect to see, and buy to get us hyped up for Star Wars Rebels. Probably the most interesting bit of information revealed is that we’ll be getting four interstitial shorts that will introduce us to the main characters of the show during the summer, which I think will be a great way to build even more excitement before the show’s big premiere. It’s also good to see it that it will be getting an A-level company-wide marketing campaign, as well as a lot of tie-in releases, which is something we’ve come to expect for any big Star Wars release.
It may still be a year away, but we can definitely count on summer 2014 to be a fun build up to Star Wars Rebels before it premieres in the fall.
