Some Possible New Details About Star Wars Rebels

Some possible new details about Star Wars Rebels have emerged, which may have more to do with the title than just the formation of the Rebellion. According to the website Bleeding Cool, they are reporting that Star Wars Rebels will focus on a group of teenagers. Here’s a portion from the article over at Bleeding Cool that talks about the main characters for Star Wars Rebels:

[blockquote cite=]The title of Lucasfilm’s upcoming animated series Star Wars: Rebels is loaded with extra meaning.

Not only is the show about the formation of the Rebel Alliance, taking place in the narrative space between Episodes III and IV, the title also riffs on the main characters. I’ve learned that most of them are teenagers. Rebellious teenagers? Well, that’s the reference, at least.

Star Wars has often been about teens. All of Luke’s first scenes are generation gap stuff, and the Anakin story saw him turning to the dark side when at his most hormonally fluctuous. It’s really the norm for Star Wars to be about youth.[/blockquote]

Of course no official character details have been announced by Lucasfilm yet, but this does seem like a possible direction the show could take with it’s characters. There is also a rumor that Mark Hamill may be involved with Rebels as a voice actor, but that should just be taken as a rumor for right now.

Hopefully we’ll hear if these details get officially announced at Celebration Europe net month, where we’ll get a sneak peak at Star Wars Rebels. But until then, you can check out the full article of this story in the link below.

Mark Hamill To Attend Celebration Europe

Another big Star Wars guest has been announced for Celebration Europe, and it is none other than Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill! Here is the official announcement made over at StarWars.com:

[blockquote cite=]The galaxy’s new hope is heading to Germany: Mark Hamill is confirmed to attend Star Wars Celebration Europe, where the legendary actor will appear onstage, as well as meet fans and sign in Autograph Hall. Best known the iconic role of Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, Hamill is also a giant in voice-acting, most notably for his multiple-decade turn as the Joker, from the classic Batman: The Animated Series to his BAFTA-winning performance in 2012’s Arkham City.

Hamill has lent his voice to many other major animated works, including Hayao Miyazaki’s Castle in the Sky and Nausicaa: The Valley of the Wind, The Batman, The Incredible Hulk, The Fantastic Four, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Futurama, Robot Chicken and Metalocalypse. He recently appeared as a surprise guest on the season finale of Criminal Minds.

Hamill is also the co-writer of a five-issue Dark Horse Comics series entitled The Black Pearl, a dark, edgy thriller that subverts the notion of what it means to be a costumed superhero. Hamill plans to direct a movie of the series based on a screenplay that he has co-written.

Visit www.starwarscelebration.eu today to buy tickets and for more information on Celebration Europe, and be sure to keep an eye on the Star Wars Blog for an inside look at the planning and development of this highly-anticipated event![/blockquote]

Mark Hamill will join some other big guest at Celebration Europe such as Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Carrie Fisher. Could he be attending the show to share in an announcement with Carrie Fisher and Kathleen Kennedy that he will be appearing in a certain upcoming movie? We’ll just have to wait and see!

Celebration Europe will take place  July 26-28

The Clone Wars Wins Another Daytime Emmy For Outstanding Special Class Animated Program

(Update: You can now watch The Clone Wars winning the award in the video below)

While there were several Daytime Emmy awards that were given out on Friday 6/14 for the Creative Arts categories (In which David Tenant won an award for his role as Huyang) there was still another Daytime Emmy Awards event that took place tonight, where The Clone Wars as a series finally took one home, as it won for Outstanding Special Class Animated Program.

While Dave Filoni and several members of the crew were present at the event, it was none other than George Lucas himself who accepted the much deserved award, which was appropriately presented to him by Carrie Fisher.

Congratulations to George Lucas, Dave Filoni, and all the talented people who have worked on the show for this much deserved, and long overdue award.

David Tennant Wins An Emmy For His Role As Huyang

The Clone Wars has finally won an Emmy! Last night at the 40th Annual Daytime awards, David Tennant won for the category of Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program for his role as the droid Huyang. The series was also nominated in three other categories, Outstanding Directing in an Animated Program, Outstanding Achievement in Sound Mixing – Animation, and Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction and Composition, but unfortunately it did not win in those categories.

Though it would have been nice for Clone Wars to win in the other categories it was nominated for, it’s nice that one aspect of the show finally got recognized. Congratulations to David Tenant on the win!

Clone Wars Bonus Content May Be At Least 10 Episodes, Plus A Soundtrack May Be Released

Kevin Kiner, who has been the music composer for The Clone Wars throughout the whole series, recently did an interview with the guys over at the Full Of Sith podcast, and provided some interesting information regarding the yet to be released “Bonus Content.” Here is what Kevin Kiner had to say about him working on the “Bonus Content.”

[blockquote cite=]”We have about ten shows that we’re still working on that are going to be part of the special material. And even, hopefully, there’s going to be a soundtrack record as a part of this special material… They’re in negotiations about that so we’re not positive that’s going to happen.”[/blockquote]

So it sounds like we may at least get 10 episodes as part of the “Bonus Content.” But what’s interesting is that he said “still working on.” So does that mean there are some episodes that are already finished, and they’re still working on 10 additional episodes to finish up?  Of course nothing official has been announced about how many episodes the “Bonus Content” will be yet, but this gives us a nice idea as to how many we can expect to see. What’s also cool in that interview, is that Kevin Kiner mentioned how a Clone Wars soundtrack may be released with the “Bonus Content.” But again, nothing official has been announced, and even Kevin Kiner isn’t too sure that will happen. But hopefully it does, as a soundtrack for the series would be great to have.

Hopefully we’ll start to hear some official details about the “Bonus Content” soon, but you can check out the full interview with Kevin Kiner in the link below, which is a good listen.

J.J. Abrams Talks About Starting Production On Episode VII

Speaking at the 5th annual PGA event, J.J. Abrams made some comments about the start of production for Episode VII, and how he feels the need to honor the previous Star Wars films, not revering them. Here is what he had to say regarding Star Wars at the event.

[blockquote cite=]“I think that the thing is so big and so massive to so many people that the key to moving forward is honoring but not revering what went before.”

“Most likely we are going to be moving to London at the end of the year for the Star Wars movie.” He also added that overseas shoots “drives me insane.”

“George Lucas has spoken for years about wanting to make those smaller, more experimental films and I hope he does because I’d really like to them.”

And finally,  when asked if any of the EU novels would play a role in the development of Episode VII, Abrams just smiled and said, “No comment.”[/blockquote]
