    Zeb Orrellos Offcially Revealed!

(Update: Lucasfilm has sent us some more info on Zeb, as well as two new images.)

The newest official reveal video of the heroes of Star Wars Rebels has been announced today, and this time it’s for Zeb Orrellos! IGN has the exclusive first look at the character, where it’s revealed he will be voiced by Steve Blum, who has worked on a lot of different animated series and videogames. Below is the announcement video and some info about Zeb from IGN ansd Lucasfilm:

    [blockquote cite=]

Every team needs a tough guy. Introducing Zeb, the (smart) muscle of the Ghost crew from Lucasfilm’s upcoming animated series Star Wars Rebels. He is revealed for the first time in this video, featuring concept art, clay sculpts, and final renderings of the character, in addition to creator interviews.

Zeb is a well-trained honor guard and is highly educated, according to executive producer Dave Filoni, which juxtaposes his brutish, alien appearance. He’s voiced by Steve Blum, who says, “He’s got a bit of a chip on his shoulder, hates Chopper and is starting to build a relationship with Ezra, begrudgingly.”

Zeb’s favorite pastime: beating up Stormtroopers, or bucket heads, as he’s heard calling them. He’s an agile fighter, using his hands, feet, and acrobatics. But there is more to Zeb than pounding Imperials. “It’s just going to be exciting to develop him and his bizarre new species,” says Filoni, “and to explain to the audience where he came from.”

Zeb is a tough, seasoned and very intelligent member of the Rebels crew. As for what Star Wars alien race Zeb is, you’ll learn more about that on the series, because Zeb comes from a never before seen species – though big Star Wars fans will recognize Zeb’s basic look. Star Wars Rebels executive producers Dave Filoni, Greg Weisman, Simon Kinberg and their collaborators are taking a major influence from the beloved work of Ralph McQuarrie on the original Star Wars trilogy, including tons of early concept art McQuarrie did for the films, and Zeb’s appearance is heavily influenced by McQuarrie’s initial ideas for what Chewbacca might look like. Though rest assured, Zeb had an attitude and demeanor all his own…

    [/blockquote]

Much like it was speculated, Zeb is indeed going to be the Chewbacca character of the group, and is indeed based off the early Ralp McQuarrie designs. But Zeb looks like he’ll do more damage to Stormtroopers than we saw Chewie do!

Four characters down, two to go. We’ll see if we get the reveal videos for Sabine and Hera within the next for days, but for the full article on Zeb, head on over to IGN.

Freddie Prinze Jr Talks Rebels At Disney’s Toy Fair Press Conference. New Image Revealed

(Update: You can now see a video of Freddie Prinze Jr talking about Star Wars Rebels at the Diseny presentation.)

Today at Toy Fair 2014, Disney held the final press conference of the event where they showcased all of their different properties, including Star Wars Rebels that featured an appearance by Freddie Prinze Jr, the voice of Kanan. Newsarama was able to attend the presentation and provide some highlights of what Freddie Prinze Jr had to say, as well as provide a new image that was shown featuring all the main characters of the show.

    [blockquote cite=]

Freddie Prinze Junior took the stage with two Stormtroopers to talk about the new toys. After looking at the LEGO “Ghost” ship, Prinze said that when he went to the audition, he didn’t know he was going in for a Star Wars show.

He walked in the door and said “is this ___ing Star Wars? You guys have to give me a minute” and left the room, collected himself, then came back in for the audition. His excitement about the show is palpable.

They shoot Rebels all together, Prinze said. They have about half of season one done now, and he said “when there’s a week we don’t record, I’m bummed out. I jones for it!”

Prinze did joke that they call Stormtroopers “Bucket heads” on the show, then did a Jedi Mind trick on them on stage saying “I’m not the Rebel you’re looking for” before leaving the stage.

Love the image revealed there, and love hearing the enthusiasm from Freddie Prinze Jr about the show, as it definitely sounds like he’s having a lot of fun working on the series!

The Identity Of The Mandalorian Character Has Been Revealed

Yesterday when images from Toy Fair showed a new female character who was wearing Mandalorian armor, a lot of speculation was going on as to who was under the helmet. A lot of that speculation was that maybe Ahsoka was the character wearing the armor, but now that theory can be put to rest, because Jedi News was able to get some more images of the character from Toy Fair, and this time without her helmet. The character’s name is Sabine, and looks to be another brand new character for the series. Here are those new images of Sabine from Jedi News:

No other info about Sabine has been revealed, as she has yet to be officially announced. But she is definitely a new character I can’t wait to learn more about, as having a main character wearing Mandalorian armor is really cool, and it just makes me wonder about what her back story is. Is she a true Mandalorian? Or someone on Lothal who just happened to get their hands on some of their armor? We should hopefully find out soon, as maybe she’ll be featured in one of the new teaser trailers set to premiere tomorrow. We’ll be sure to keep you up to date as more information about the character develops.

The figures and vehicles shown in these images look really cool, and it’s great to get a look at some new and familiar characters who look to show up in the show. Characters like that Imperial officer who is speculated to be named Agent Kallus, and of course of everyone’s favorite droid duo, R2-D2 and C-3PO.

But the image that has me most intrigued is the one of the female Mandalorian. First off, I think it would be really cool to have one of the main heroes be someone who wears Mandalorian armor, but there is already some speculation going around online about just who is under that helmet. And right now the speculation is that maybe this character could be Ahsoka Tano. There is some evidence in the image that supports the theory, as the Mandalorian is definitely a female, and if you look closely at her skin color, it does resemble the tone of Ahsoka’s skin. But then, how could Ahsoka fit her head inside the helmet with her lekku? Maybe it’s just wishful thinking by fans that really want to see Ahsoka in this series, but we do know that there is still one more main hero character who has not been revealed at all, and this mysterious Mandalorian character could be that last rebel.

Hopefully we wont have to wait too long to find out who exactly these new characters are, but we’ll definitely keep you posted on all the news that comes out of Toy Fair 2014. Thanks to Rebels Transmission and Rebels Report for tweeting out these images.
