Simon Kinberg Talks The Inquisitor & Darker Themes In Star Wars Rebels

“Star Wars Rebels” Executive Producer Simon Kinberg recently did an interview with Empire, where he shares some new insights on The Inquisitor, the series having some darker themes for certain characters, and planting Easter eggs that we’ll know from the movies, and some that we may see in Episode VII and beyond! Here’s what Simon had to say from the article over at Empire:
    [blockquote cite=]

“The Inquisitor is less of a believer in the Empire and the cause of the Empire than perhaps Darth Vader, and more of a hunting dog.” So not a Sith, per se? “I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say about that, but no, per se.”

“We are not afraid to take those characters to some dark places. In the first season, there are some backstories that get revealed for main characters that are a lot darker and more dramatic than anything I’ve ever seen in animated TV, and which have the same depth and childhood trauma that the characters in the movies had.”

“We always felt it would lead into IV and potentially set up characters you might not meet until V, or VI, or even VII, but the notion was that this would stand alone from Episode VII. That doesn’t mean that we can’t introduce Easter eggs that will pay off in VII, VIII, IX.”

New Star Wars Rebels: The Movie Trailer Released

Are you hyped up for “Star Wars Rebels” yet? If not, you should be! We’re just two weeks away from the premiere movie on the Disney Channel, and to get us even more hyped up, a cool new trailer has just been released that contains a lot of new footage!

It should be noted that at the end of the trailer it says premiering next week, but it’s probably because the trailer was released a week early. Hopefully it won’t be taken down because of that!

Description For The Sixth Episode Titled “Breaking Ranks” Has Been Revealed

Another description for an upcoming “Star Wars Rebels” episode has been revealed over in Germany at the site starwars.gamona.de, and has now been translated via Jedi News. The description is for the sixth episode titled “Breaking Ranks” that will bring in some new characters into the series. You can check out the description below, but there are some details that could be considered some minor spoilers if you want to remain completely surprised while watching the episode:

    Spoilers Below:

    [blockquote cite=]

    Breaking Ranks

“The Rebels send Ezra under a false name to the imperial academy to steal a decoder. There he meets two new friends: Zare and Jai, who belong to the best cadets like himself. When Ezra discovered that the emperor will call the best to himself, he and the two others are trying to escape from the academy. But as they get close to succeed, Zare changes his mind and wants to stay in the academy, because it’s the only way how he is able to find his lost sister.”

    [/blockquote]

The shot of Ezra at the Imperial academy from the second trailer we got at Comic Con back in July has always stood out to me, and had me wondering what the story would be about for that particular episode when we got to it. So now that I finally know what it will be about thanks to this description, it has become an episode that is one of my most anticipated now!

New Star Wars Rebels Trailer: “Generations”

A brief new “Star Wars Rebels” trailer has come out titled “Generations.” A lot of it contains footage we’ve already seen, but there are a few cool new scenes shown in the trailer as well.

We’re now just exactly two weeks away from the October 3rd premiere, and the excitement for it continues to grow!

Description For The Upcoming Episode Titled “Rise Of The Old Masters”

The description for an upcoming episode of “Star Wars Rebels” has been revealed over in Germany, and it’s for the fifth episode in the series titled “Rise of the Old Masters.” Here is the episode description that was sent to Making Star Wars from German fan site Star Wars Union:
    [blockquote cite=]

105 – Rise of the Old Masters

Directed by Steven G. Lee, Steward Lee

The Rebels learn that old Jedi Master Luminara Unduli is being held captive in the Stittgen system. They get to her only to realize that they have fallen into a trap set by the Inquisitor, but working together they manage to escape by the skin of their teeth.

    [/blockquote]

Making Star Wars goes on to say that the Stittgen system mentioned in the description is in fact Stygeon, and was some kind of auto-correct mistake. But having actually seen this episode, Making Star Wars confirmed that Luminara Unduli is in fact being held at Stygeon.

“Rise of the Old Masters,” was a title that definitely peeked my interest more than any other when it was first revealed a few weeks ago, and now that I know what this episode will be about thanks to this description, I really can’t wait to see this one!
