5 Things I Would Like To see In Season 5

After what was a great 4th season of The Clone Wars, and as we head into the summer eagerly awaiting the start of season 5, I’ve been starting to think to myself about some things I would like to see happen this upcoming season. So after thinking about it, I have come up with a list of the top 5 things I would like see happen for this to be a really cool season for me personally. So without further ado, starting with number 5, here is my list of the 5 things I would like to see happen in season 5 of The Clone Wars:

#5. More Arcs Featuring The Big Three

Besides the slave arc, and the first episode of the Rako Hardeen arc, there weren’t too many episodes in season 4 that featured the big three characters of The Clone Wars series working together. The big three of course being Obi Wan, Anakin, and Ahsoka. These three characters have developed such great chemistry with each other over the course of the series, and after seeing some great episodes like the Mortis trilogy and the Citadel trilogy in season 3, which featured all three characters, I was hopping for more episodes like those ones to be in season 4. I have to admit though, I wasn’t the biggest Ahsoka fan in the first season season, but she has matured so much since then as both a character and as a Jedi, that she has now become a great character who I think is at her best when she is teamed up with both Anakin and Obi Wan. Not only does seeing the three of them together make for some great character moments, but watching the three of them in battle together using their Lightsabers, we would now get to see them be a real force to be reckoned with. We already knew that Anakin and Obi Wan were great swordsmen, but after seeing Ahsoka’s Lightsaber skills grow as well (especially after we saw her take out five members of the Deathwatch with one swing) the three of them working together in combat would now make them a real lethal combination against their enemies. Not to mention it also makes for some killer action sequences, which I’m sure is something we would all enjoy seeing throughout the course of this upcoming season.

#4. A New Story That Deals With Anakin & Ahsoka’s Relationship as Master & Apprentice

As the series’ timeline moves closer to the events of Revenge Of The Sith, we will no doubt start to see some hints as to what Ahsoka’s ultimate destiny will be once the series concludes. While I don’t think we’ll get a major reveal as to what will happen to Ahsoka in season 5, I do hope we get a new story arc that deals with Anakin and Ahsoka’s relationship as Master and Apprentice. Their relationship has already grown substantially from when they first met in The Clone Wars movie, as we no longer hear the nicknames as much, or the constant bickering they would have with each other in the first two seasons. But for season 5, I would like to see a story that adds another layer to their Master and Padawan relationship. One that either draws them closer together, thus making it hard for Anakin to deal with what ever happens to Ahsoka by the end of the series, or one that pulls them apart, where maybe Ahsoka starts to lose faith in her master, and causes some distrust among them. While I don’t know how Anakin and Ahsoka’s relationship will play out by the time the series is over, I am pretty confident that George Lucas and Dave Filoni will give us some satisfying stories that will lead to the end of their Master and Apprentice relationship. I just hope we to get to see one of those stories in season 5.

#3. Repercussions From The Umbara Arc

The Umbara arc from season 4 was not only my favorite arc from that season, but has become one of my favorite arcs from the entire series. There were some major things that happened in that four part arc, which just begs for more episodes to deal with the aftermath of the whole Umbara event. We saw a Jedi leave the order and betray his troops for personal gain, we saw Clone Troopers come under friendly fire and then take matters into their own hands, we saw a Clone kill a Jedi, and we also saw at the end that Rex is starting to question if there is even a point to the whole war. These are events that would have some major repercussions, and I would be disappointed if we don’t see any of those repercussions before the end of the series. While Dave Filoni has said in interviews that we will learn more about order 66 in some future episodes, I would love to see the events that transpired on Umbara play a part in those stories, as well as playing a part to how the Clones respond to order 66. But what I would really like to see, and hopefully in season 5, is how exactly did the Jedi council react to the betrayal Jedi Pong Krell? I think the betrayal of Krell should be treated as a major concern for the Jedi Council, and not one that is forgotten and never spoken of again. It would no doubt give them concern about the other Jedi generals who are fighting in the war, but also maybe even cause them to be concerned about the Clones. Who they now know can kill a Jedi. A Jedi who was supposed to be one of the best. While I don’t think we need a whole new arc dealing with the repercussions from Umbara, I just hope we get mention of it in season 5, and in future seasons. Maybe there could be a scene in the Jedi temple where the council makes mention of Pong Krell’s betrayal, or maybe we could see a scene in a new story arc that deals with Rex, where he is confiding in Anakin his doubts about the war, and the loss of trust he may now have with some of the Jedi because of the events of Umbara. Regardless of how it’s done, I just hope what transpired on Umbara is not forgotten, and that those events do get mentioned again. And if it happens this upcoming season, well that will no doubt be a very cool moment for me in season 5.

#2. Clone Troopers VS. Deathwatch

This is something that I really want to see from a visual standpoint. Without a doubt, Star Wars has the coolest looking costumes designs, and besides Darth Vader, to me there are no cooler costume designs than that of the Mandalorians and the Clone Troopers. Ever since I first learned that the Mandalorians would be making an appearance in the show during season 2, having them in a battle with the Clones is something I’ve been dying to see! We didn’t get that in the season 2 Deathwatch arc, and we also didn’t get that in last season’s great episode “A Friend In Need.” But when Dave Filoni announced that season 5 would have a major Deathwatch arc, my excitement for the possibility of a Clone Trooper Deathwatch battle grew again! While we don’t know what exactly the new Deathwatch arc is going to be about, I just can’t help but think of how cool it would look visually to see a giant battle between these characters with such awesome armor and helmet designs. While this is mainly something I want to see because it would look so cool, I think it can also make for a cool story, where maybe you would have Deathwatch look at the Clones as a disgrace to the Mandalorians, since they are cloned from Jango Fett, whom they may not view as a true Mandalorian. Hopefully the third time is the charm, and I’ll finally get the battle I’ve been dying to see since season two. And if it does happen, I will no doubt be rooting for the Clones to take out as many members of Deathwatch as possible, and be the victors of the battle.

#1. Sith Lords Reunited

Now that Darth Maul has made his return known to the Jedi, and has already had his rematch with Obi Wan, there is just one more encounter that he needs to have, which for me would probably be the highlight of season 5. This of course would be his reunion with his former master, Darth Sidious. One of my favorite lines from the season 4 finale “Revenge,” was when in response to a mention of the Clone Wars, Maul said in a disappointed tone, ” So it began without me.” That line got me intrigued right when I heard it, as to how much Darth Maul was part of Sidious’ overall plan, and I just hope we get more insight into that story point with an encounter between these two characters. What I also really want to see in season 5, is how Darth Sidious reacts to Maul’s return, and how Maul now views his former master. There are a lot of Dark side users who were once trained as Sith apprentices on the loose in the galaxy now, those being Maul, Savage, and Ventress. Will Sidious view Maul and Savage as a problem to his overall plan, and want them eliminated? Or will he let them be, and use them to further distract the Jedi? Or did Sidious know the whole time that Maul was still alive? With Sidious’ being in touch with pretty much everything that goes on in the galaxy, you just never know how he’s going to use these different situations that pop up for his own personal gain. As for Maul, it would make sense for him to act like a true Sith and try to kill Sidious, so he could become the new Dark Lord of the Sith. But he still seems to have great respect for his master, as he said in the finale that he was apprenticed by the most powerful being in the galaxy. With him saying that, I’m not entirely sure if he would take out Sidious right away. There’s a lot to speculate when you think about Darth Maul and Darth Sidious reuniting for the first time in over 10 years, and it gets me excited about the potential of a really cool story arc that deals with these two characters. Could we possibly even see a Lightsaber duel between Maul and Sidious? Where Sidious would put Maul in his place, and show him who the true Dark Lord of Sith really is? For me, that would just be the icing on the cake to what possibly could be the highlight of season 5!

So those are some of the things I would like to see happen this upcoming season, but I would love to hear what everyone else wants to see for season 5. Let us know in the comments below!

Full Length Season 5 Trailer Debuts at EW.Com!

The full length season 5 trailer has made it’s official debut over at EW.com, and it looks fantastic! You can check out the trailer and some quotes from Dave Filoni about the season in the link below:

Season 5 Trailer

There were lots of cool stuff shown in that trailer that just makes September seem that much longer. Some of the highlights for me was seeing the Deathwatch on what looks to be Mustafar, seeing Darth Maul and Savage Oppress taking on Bounty Hunters like Embo, as well as some Falleen, who will probably be part of Black Sun now that we know they will be showing up this season. I also loved the line Darth Maul said about Dooku, calling him a Sith pretender. I can’t wait to see how that story plays out! The trailer also showed a lot of scenes from the arc that deals with rebels on Onderon, which to me seems like a real interesting story. Going by the episode list that was revealed in the latest Star Wars Insider issue, I’m guessing that arc is going to be the season premiere. Being a big fan of the Clones, my only complaint about the trailer was that hardly any Clones were featured in it. Though I’m sure they’ll make their presence known throughout the course of the season.

Just judging from what I saw in the trailer, it looks like we’re going to be in for a season with some great stories, and lots of action! Can’t wait!

Dave Filoni Talks Season 5 At Star Wars Weekends

Dave Filoni was a guest at Disneyworld’s Star Wars Weekends this past Saturday, and while there, he gave out some new info on season 5 that Star Wars fan siteTosche Station was able to report on. Here are some of the new info that Dave Filoni revealed:

[blockquote cite=]The Onderon arc will tie in with the formation of Rebels & foreshadow the Rebel Alliance

This will be a big year for Ahsoka

Season 5 will expand on Darth Maul & show all his mechanations as a Sith. Tough times ahead for Obi-Wan.

Ventress will pair up w/ someone more interesting than Obi-Wan.

You will see Fives again. He will be a main character.

“Sorrow can be so sweet sometimes.” – Dave Filoni in reply to Obi Wan and Satine’s relationship.

An episode of Season 5 might be premiered at Celebration.[/blockquote]

Some more cool stuff. I’m glad Fives will be coming back as a main character, but now I’m really excited about seeing some foreshadowing of the Rebel Alliance, and seeing if it will tie in to some of the “Revenge Of The Sith” deleted scenes. The more info I hear about season 5, the more I can’t wait to start seeing it!

Amazing New Star Wars 1313 Footage!

Tonight on Spike T.V.’s E3 All Access, we got to see the first gameplay footage of Star Wars 1313, and boy does it look amazing!

To me, this is the first time in a game where it actually looks like you’re playing CG cutscene. The environments and effects look incredible with amazing detail, and the transition from cutscene to gameplay was seamless. I am blown away by what Lucasarts and ILM are doing with this game, and cannot wait to see more footage of it.

Star Wars: The Old Republic Expansion Trailer

Today at EA’s E3 press conference, A new trailer for an upcoming expansion for The Old Republic was shown, which features a lot of new content for the game. Such as:
• New Space Mission. Space Station Assault.
• New Operation. Terror From Beyond.
• New Companion. The Assassin Droid HK-47.
• New War Zone. Ancient Hypergates.
• New World. Makeb.
• New Playable Species. Cathar.
• New level cap and combat abilities.
•
Also announced was that staring in July, the game will be free to play, up until level 15. You can check out the announced new content, and the new trailer in the video above. While I’m not a huge MMO player, and have yet to play The Old Republic, there looks to enough cool new content in this expansion to keep players busy in the Old Republic universe.

Season 5 Episode Titles

Another scanned page from the upcoming Star Wars Insider issue has made it’s way online, and this time we get the reveal of the titles for the first seven episodes of the season!  The titles of those episodes are:

[one_two]1. War On Two Fronts
2. Front Runners
3. The Soft War
4. Tipping Points
[/one_two]

5. An Old Friend
6. The Rise Of Clovis
7. Crisis At The Heart

[break]

If I had to guess based off of these titles, I would say we’re going to get a four-part arc to kick off the season, followed by a three-part arc dealing with the return of Padme’s “old friend” Senator Rush Clovis, who you will remember made an appearance in the season two episode, “Senate Spy.” I’m sure more information about these episodes will be revealed at Celebration VI, but these titles definitely have me intrigued about what kind of stories were going to be getting for season 5!

Kathleen Kennedy to become Co-Chair of Lucasfilm Ltd.

In a press release sent out by Lucasfilm today, it was announced that George Lucas would be appointing Kathleen Kennedy as Co-Chair of Lucasfilm Ltd. After word spread yesterday of Lucas’ impending retirement, it comes as no surprise that he would be appointing someone to take over many of the responsibilities at Lucasfilm, such as overseeing production of it’s long running Cartoon Network series, Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

“I’ve spent my life building Lucasfilm and as I shift my focus into other directions I wanted to make sure it was in the hands of someone equipped to carry my vision into the future,” said George Lucas.  “It was important that my successor not only be someone with great creative passion and proven leadership abilities, but also someone who loves movies.  I care deeply about my employees—it is their creativity and hard work that has made this company what it is today.  As the company grows and expands I wanted to be sure the employees of Lucasfilm have a strong captain for the ship.  I also care deeply about our fans and it was important to have someone who would carry on the passion and care that I’ve given the films over the years. So for me Kathy was the obvious choice, she is a trusted friend and one of the most respected producers and executives in the industry.”

Kathleen Kennedy, a seven-time Academy Award winner, should be well known to Lucasfilm and movie fans in general as producer of several fan favorite franchises and films, such as Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, The Bourne Legacy, and the upcoming Steven Spielberg project, Lincoln. Director Steven Spielberg had this to say regarding the decision from Lucas, “George’s prescience is once again proven by his choice of my long time producing partner, Kathy Kennedy to co-chair Lucasfilm. Kathy has been a member of both of our families going into a fourth decade so it does not feel like she is going to another galaxy far far away.  She will get just as much support from me with Lucasfilm as George has given both of us all these years.”

“George is a true visionary,” said Kathleen Kennedy.  “I’ve seen him build Lucasfilm from a small rebel unit in Northern California to an international fully integrated entertainment company.  I’m excited to have the chance to work with such an extraordinary group of talented people.  George and I have talked about the enormous opportunities that lie ahead for the company, and as George moves towards retirement I am honored that he trusts me with taking care of the beloved film franchises. I feel fortunate to have George working with me for the next year or two as I take on this role—it is nice to have Yoda by your side.”

What does this mean for ongoing projects at Lucasfilm such as Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the much rumoured Star Wars Live-Action series? I think we can expect the same quality and consistency from Lucasfilm’s flagship projects, but hopefully this will mark a new era for licensing and the expanded universe in general, which in many fans opinions has become a little unruly in recent years. What kind of changes would you like to see from Lucasfilm, if any? Sound off in the comments below.

More 1313 Details

[framed_right img=https://rebelcels.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Star-Wars-1313-logo.jpg]Star Wars 1313 Logo[/framed_right]
On last night’s GT.TV pre-E3 special, a new Star Wars game was announced titled Star Wars 1313.

Not too much of the game was shown during the episode, but we learned that players will be taking on the role of a Bounty Hunter in the most dangerous place on Coruscant, 1313. Here is the official announcement made by LucasArts:

[break]

LucasArts is diving into the most dangerous depths of the Star Wars criminal underworld with their newly announced internally developed videogame franchise, Star Wars 1313. Players will take control of a lethal bounty hunter in the never-before-explored expanses of Level 1313, deep below the surface of Coruscant. Using an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down marks, the player must also uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy in this third-person cinematic action adventure game. It’s a bold new take on the Star Wars galaxy, intended for mature audiences.

Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a mortal, well-equipped hero who cannot rely on supernatural powers to survive his dangerous environment. The game benefits from an integrated development approach that brings together artists from across the entire Lucasfilm organization, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound.

Also a video of the developers talking about the game can viewed in the link below.

http://www.gametrailers.com/episode/gametrailers-tv/157?ch=1

The game definitely sounds interesting, but from what was being talked about by the developers at Lucas Arts about it involving crime, gangs, and bounty hunters, I got the feeling that a lot of the ideas that have been discussed about the much delayed live action T.V. show, may be making it’s way into the new game. Is there connection between the game and the upcoming live action T.V. show? We’ll have to wait and see, but we can expect more info and gameplay footage to be shown at the upcoming E3 show on Monday June 4th.

Star Wars: 1313 Revealed!

Lucasarts has finally come clean about their next big Star Wars title, Star Wars: 1313! A few weeks after Lucasfilm sent the Star Wars community into a flurry of activity by trademarking the title Star Wars: 1313 and snapping up any URLs relating to the title, we’re finally getting our first details about the project.

Star Wars: 1313 will be a third person action game, centering around cover shooting and platforming. The setting of the game is perhaps the most interesting piece of news. The game’s title seems to be taken from “Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant” according to Lucasarts. This sounds vaguely familiar to the Star Wars: Underworld concept that has been thrown around in regards to the Live Action series. Could this be a possible tie-in?

In regards to gameplay, fans of The Force Unleashed waiting for a sequel or spiritual successor are going to be disappointed, as Lucasarts is describing the main character as a bounty hunter who, “uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world”.

More information is coming next week at E3, the Electronic Entertainment Expo, so stay tuned for news as we learn more about this project.
