It will not contain any actual footage of the show, will be about 15 seconds long, and will be new material that has not been revealed yet.

Ralph McQuarrie Interview: The Star Wars Gallery

The official Star Wars Youtube Channel has uploaded a cool new video that features an interview with Ralph McQuarrie, where he talks about his iconic concept art and how it defined the look we all know and love for Star Wars.

[blockquote cite=””]In this special featurette from the Lucasfilm vault, Star Wars concept artist Ralph McQuarrie discusses his work and paintings that helped to visually define a galaxy far, far away, and bring George Lucas’ vision to life. In his early meetings with Lucas, the filmmaker hired McQuarrie to create some illustrations that would help visualize his script for the movie studio. McQuarrie began work the same day, and soon, Star Wars was a go. To his surprise, many sequences from the film looked exactly like his concept paintings, which included initial designs for C-3PO and R2-D2, Darth Vader, the Millennium Falcon, and others, all seen in this video.[/blockquote]

Some New Rumored Plot Details For Star Wars Rebels

Over on the latest Bleeding Cool Movie Podcast, they are reporting some new details about the plot of Star Wars Rebels that is expected to be revealed at the New York Comic Con, as well as when exactly the series will take place in between Episodes III and IV. Here are those new details from the podcast:

-The series is set to take place 7 or 8 years after Revenge of the Sith

    – The Empire is gaining ground and come to a planet to set up a base

-Some teenagers there don’t fall in line with the Empire, but some of their parents do, and they go with it to become good citizens of the Empire.

-These teenagers go on the run on the newly revealed main ship of the series, the Ghost

-The title Rebels refers to the teenagers as both being part of the Rebel Alliance, or the seed  that will grow on to be the Rebel Alliance.

As always, these new details should be treated as rumors until we hear the official plot synopsis from Lucasfilm, which will hopefully be soon at the New York Comic Con panel.

Some Promotional And Marketing Details Revealed For Star Wars Rebels

Before Star Wars Rebels hits the airwaves next fall, we can be sure that Lucasfilm and Disney will be doing a lot of promotion for the show before it airs. Well now thanks to an updated post over at the Edelweiss Disney Book Group page for a Star Wars Rebels tie-in book, some details about their marketing campaign have been revealed, which gives us an idea of what releases we can expect to see to help promote Star Wars Rebels next year. Here are those details:

[blockquote cite=””]A NEW ERA: Star Wars Rebels is a CG animated series that takes place between the events of Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. The series gives TV viewers their first-ever glimpse into this exciting period and the genesis of the Rebel movement.

TERRIFIC TEASERS: Four short-form interstitials will release in Summer 2014, introducing viewers to the characters of Star Wars Rebels. In Fall 2014, a one-hour debut special will air on Disney Channel and Disney XD, followed by the series rollout on Disney XD

TOP TALENT: Under the supervision of Executive Producers Dave Filoni (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Avatar: The Last Airbender), Simon Kinberg (X-Men: First Class, Sherlock Holmes, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) and Greg Weisman (Young Justice, The Spectacular Spider-Man, Gargoyles), Star Wars Rebels boasts the talents of the production team that brought us the hugely successful and Emmy winning Star Wars: The Clone Wars series.

SUPER SYNERGY: Star Wars Rebels will have A-level company-wide marketing in Summer/Fall 2014, as well as a huge push across consumer product divisions, including digital, electronics, toys, apparel, stationery, and home furnishings.[/blockquote]

While the description of the show and details about the crew are all stuff we know already, the promotion and marketing plan revealed definitely gave us some good insight on what we can expect to see, and buy to get us hyped up for Star Wars Rebels. Probably the most interesting bit of information revealed is that we’ll be getting four interstitial shorts that will introduce us to the main characters of the show during the summer, which I think will be a great way to build even more excitement before the show’s big premiere. It’s also good to see it that it will be getting an A-level company-wide marketing campaign, as well as a lot of tie-in releases, which is something we’ve come to expect for any big Star Wars release.

It may still be a year away, but we can definitely count on summer 2014 to be a fun build up to Star Wars Rebels before it premieres in the fall.

New Details About What Star Wars 1313 Could’ve Been

One of the more disappointing news we got this year was the cancellation of the videogame Star Wars 1313. And while the game looked and sounded awesome from just the small amount of details and footage we saw of it previously, some new information and artwork about the game just got revealed today in a story over at IGN, which will no doubt make the cancellation of this game even more painful.

IGN recently had the chance to check out an early demo of the game that would’ve been shown at this past E3, and got to find out some story details about the game, as well provide some cool looking concept art that reveals who the main character of the game would’ve been. Boba Fett! Below are the new concept art and story details IGN was able to reveal about the game.

[blockquote cite=””] Star Wars 1313 would have begun with a prologue on Tattooine. Various bounty hunters seen in the game would have worked for different crime bosses, and Boba Fett unsurprisingly served Jabba the Hutt. Here we see a young Fett very early in the game, long before he even has his Mandalorian armor, instead wearing only his most basic outfit.

Since Star Wars 1313 was meant to take place between the prequel and original Star Wars trilogies, Fett’s armor would have evolved throughout the story, changing and becoming stronger, more familiar, as he progressed.

Coruscant was meticulously detailed, with structures seen here made up of derelict ships and spare parts (including TIE Fighter wings if you look closely). It’s not hard to make out a Corellian freighter here (though our source assured us it isn’t the Millennium Falcon), and you can see the gigantic scale of the environments the development team intended.

Our source explained that at one point in the story, Fett would also end up in layer 1314. While 1313 is a corrupt metropolis controlled by crime families, 1314 is a rarely-explored slum that has been shrouded for years in complete darkness. Part of the story of Star Wars 1313 would have seen Fett fighting his way through layer 1314 in search of his bounty.

Star Wars 1313, as suggested by the E3 trailer, featured a ton of huge action set pieces and Uncharted-like platforming. The shot seen here is straight from the 15-minute demo we saw, with Fett hanging from a drain pipe. As he’s climbing, the pipe bursts, falling downward and forcing Fett to find a new place to grip. Our source tells us these scripted sequences would have been common, and the E3 trailer is a great indication of some of the high-tension moments we might have seen in the finished product.

The main thrust of our demo saw Boba Fett chasing a Trandoshan through a sprawling marketplace in level 1313. As Fett chased after his target, he ran through several storefronts, including a sort of butcher shop that featured sliced-open Tauntauns hanging from the rafters. The crime families of 1313 were using these Tauntauns to smuggle spice to other planets, a plot point that our source tells us would have been central to Star Wars 1313’s story.

Behind Fett is a droid companion that would have fought alongside him as his partner. We’re told that this droid would eventually have betrayed Fett, but that early in the game they fought side-by-side.

There would be other bounty hunters fighting on behalf of the various crime families of 1313, all working together toward a common goal (though, as is typical of Star Wars lore, all bets are off once that goal has been completed). This was meant to tie into the live-action TV series, our source tells us, which was set on Coruscant and focused on the same crime families as the game.[/blockquote]

I have to admit, it was kind of hard for me to read all these new details and concept art for this game now that we wont get a chance to play it, as it all looked and sounded awesome! It looked liked it was even going to tie in to what we saw of Boba Fett in the Clone Wars, as we see from the concept art, he would’ve teamed up with the droid C-21 Highsinger again from the episode “Bounty.” But with Star Wars, no ideas stay dead forever, as you never know where this story concept could show up later. Since it was supposed to take place between Episodes III and IV, maybe we’ll see this story play out in Star Wars Rebels, or a standalone Boba Fett movie? You just never know!

You can check out the full story about Star Wars 1313 over at IGN, as well as a video of the editors talking about the demo they got to see.

As we eagerly await to hear more details about Star Wars Rebels, The Hollywood Reporter has just posted a story where they say they have the exclusive details on who will be cast in the upcoming series. Here is the story from the Hollywood Reporter regarding the cast:
