Soundtrack For Clone Wars Seasons 1-6 Coming

“Star Wars The Clone Wars” composer Kevin Kiner was a guest on the Everything Geek Podcast today, where during the interview he revealed that Lucasfilm is planning to release a “Clone Wars” soundtrack that will include music from seasons 1-6. Here is the quote from Kevin Kiner about the planned soundtrack for “The Clone Wars” during the interview:
    [blockquote cite=]

“We are just compiling a CD of Clone Wars seasons 1-6”

    [/blockquote]

He also had this to say about the difference in composing the music for “Star Wars Rebels:”

    [blockquote cite=]

“[Rebels] is a cool reboot. I’m sure if you have seen any interviews with Dave Filoni or even myself, Dave’s really talking about going back to A New Hope, going back to the adventure, serialized feel that the first film had. The musical sensibility is a lot closer to what John [Williams] did for that film specifically, A New Hope, than what we were doing on Clone Wars.”

    [/blockquote]
It’s great to hear that there are still plans to release a soundtrack for “The Clone Wars,” and for it to include music from all six seasons. Hopefully it won’t be long until we get an official announcement from Lucasfilm about it’s release.

Simon Kinberg Talks Star Wars Rebels At Comic Con

“Star Wars Rebels” Executive Producer Simon Kinberg did an interview with ComingSoon.Net from Comic Con, where he goes on to talk about working in the Star Wars universe, the arc they have planed for the series, and how it will fit with all the other Star Wars projects currently in development. Here is a portion of that interview:
    [blockquote cite=]

Coming Soon: Fingers crossed. And you have an arc all planned out that goes from the pilot until at least the first Star Wars?

Simon Kinberg: We do. We’ve planned out that arc. We were hyper focused on the first season, but we have a very clear sense on where the series links to A New Hope. And we’ve got an opportunity to bring in worlds and characters from other elements, like going to Kessel (which is featured in the pilot) which we’d heard about but never seen.

Coming Soon: Speaking to that point, one thing “Clone Wars” had was much of the time it was following characters, main characters, from the films and it was tied together that way. In “Rebels” you’ve created all new characters, without the baggage but also without the connection. Is that more difficult or freeing?

Simon Kinberg: Both. You don’t have the automatic connection with characters everyone already knows, but as an artist and a writer you get to build an entire identity for a character, which for a writer is the most fun thing. It’s kind of why I got into writing.

It might not just be prequel and “Clone Wars” characters finding new homes as Kinberg hinted some of the new “Rebels” characters could make their way into live action via the various spinoff films currently under development, some under Kinberg’s watch.

Simon Kinberg: There is a lot of synergy right now between animation and live action at Lucasfilm.

The Unfinished Clone Wars Arc Featuring Asajj Ventress & Quinlan Vos Is Becoming A Novel!

A big announcement for us “Clone Wars” fans came out of San Diego Comic Con today, as it was just announced that the unfinished arc about Asajj Ventress & Quinlan Vos is being turned into a novel!

The book is being written by Christie Golden, and is set to release in summer 2015. It will be based on the unfinished arc for season 7, which George Lucas had a hand in the script, and will deal with very adult themes.

Darth Maul: Son of Dathomir is doing a great job adapting that unfinished “Clone Wars” story, so I can’t wait to be able to read another one in the form of a novel!

Brand New Extended Star Wars Rebels Trailer!

“Star Wars Rebels” is poised to have a big presence at this week’s San Diego Comic Con, but today we got a nice early surprise, as a brand new extended trailer has premiered for the series! This trailer has it all, we get a look at some cool action, character moments, and probably best of all, Obi Wan Kenobi!! Also revealed in the trailer, is that the series will indeed be premiering in October, but with still no exact date.

This is without a doubt the best look we have gotten for the series, and it just looks awesome! This trailer hit all the right beats, and I really just can’t wait to see the full premiere episodes now. Look for more news about “Star Wars Rebels” this Thursday at “The Heroes Of Star Wars Rebels” panel at San Diego Comic Con!

Jason Isaacs Confirmed To Play The Inquisitor

Entertainment Weekly has officially revealed who will be playing The Inquisitor in “Star Wars Rebels,” and it is actor Jason Isaacs. The Inquisitor was the final character we were waiting to find out who would be playing him, and now it looks like we know the full main cast of “Star Wars Rebels.” Here is how Lucasfilm’s Pablo Hidalgo describes the character, as well as a new video about the The Inquisitor:
    [blockquote cite=]

“He’s cold, he’s analytical, he doesn’t get angry,” said Lucasfilm Story Group’s Pablo Hidalgo. “We all took care to make sure our villains have real presence and our heroes just can’t walk all over him. This isn’t like cartoons I grew up with in the 80s where you’d have the villain lose every week and yet every week we’d have to believe he’s some sort of threat. When The Inquisitor shows up, it means something significant and it’s a definite challenge for our heroes.”

    [/blockquote]

The Inquisitor is definitely shaping up to be a great new villain in the Star Wars universe, and it’s really great to hear that he just won’t be a villain who the heroes defeat on every episode, but someone who will be a real threat.

Be sure to check out the full announcement over at Entertainment Weekly.
