Possible New Details On The Clone Wars Bonus Content

Over at the site The Star Wars Underworld, they are reporting some new details on the Clone Wars “Bonus Content” episodes from a Star Wars event that just tool place in Poland recently, where the first trailer for the “Bonus Content” was shown. Below is the report from The Star Wars Underworld, including details from the trailer that was shown, which contains massive spoilers for the episodes. So if you want to be totally surprised when watching these episodes for the first time, you may want to skip the trailer description.

[blockquote cite=]Last month Dave Filoni revealed that the final episodes of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, a.k.a the “Bonus content”, will be released in early 2014. Other than a few clips here and there little has been know about these episodes, until now. A wealth of new information has been revealed via a Polish fan site that reported on a Star Wars children’s event held in Warsaw, Poland. The organizers of the event, the Star Wars Artistic Team(S.W.A.T), along with a Disney representative screened episodes from season five of the Clone Wars, but also, most importantly, showed a trailer for the “sixth season”. They explain that bonus content will be a total of ten episodes, aired on Disney XD early next year, and will bear the subtitle “The Lost Missions”. Two trailers were shown, the first recapped season five and the second showed several scenes from the bonus content. Video and pictures were prohibited at the event but the site offers a description of what was shown. But beware, major spoilers ahead!

“Trailer began by showing a dark, damp fog covered the planet – it was accompanied by the voice of Qui-Gon, saying: “You must go to the Dagobah (?)., Where you will find your answers.” I landed there Yoda.

Many loose scenes related to a ripe old master: in one of them walked among red, dust-covered rocks (Korriban?), The second was in a dark building and ran up to him being a bit reminiscent of the Balrog from “Lord of the Rings” – consisted of smoke and fire , in another fight on the platform of a hooded figure, equipped with a red lightsaber, another presented him how to jump the airborne platforms, leading to what looked like a huge tree, located on the background of the cloudy, yellow sky, and finally, you will see Yoda was like talking with a group of representatives of a new breed – were round, white and maroon faces and golden eyes.

Oppo Rancisis was present at the meeting of the Jedi Council.

Members of the steel circle over Yoda and bent over him.

One scene showed a lot of ghosts (or perhaps invisible) Jedi, taking part in the battle.

Certainly back on Kamino – were aiwhy, cadets in helmets, learners in front of computers, Shaak Ti also returns. Clone of another forerunner – the one who killed one of the sisters of the Jedi – thrashing about on the bed, tied to the belt, and the voices in the background said that “does not remember the day it happened.” In the longer terms, medical droid came into fives, calling it “CT-5555”, which did not like the man who pointed out to him that the clones have names and it is important for them.

Sidious contacted holographically with Lama Su and other Kaminoaninem, saying: “The truth of order 66 can not come to light.”

Mother Talzin fired its green rays, and later fought with someone with a sword with a blue blade (perhaps it was Obi-Wan).

Showing the new machine Separatist – a bit like aqua droids episode of inkwells, but painted with red paint.

Count Dooku will fight with two species of blue swords – they were probably Skywalker and Kenobi.

Padme stood before the congregation Muunów, and one of them shouted: “You’re under arrest!” It also shows some new shots of the chase Emba on the ice planet.

Mace Windu fought with giant robots.

Shown computer hologram displaying the silhouette of a man with black hair in a Jedi robe – was very similar to Sifo-Dyas comic book “Eyes of the revolution.””

If the information reported from this trailer is true, I couldn’t be more excited to see these episodes, as they sound like some great stories to close out the series! Hopefully we’ll get some official word on the “Bonus Content” soon, as well as this trailer officially appearing on StarWars.com as we get closer to them premiering. We’ll be sure to bring you all the new details regarding the Clone Wars “Bonus Content” as it breaks, right here at Frontlines!

New Star Wars Rebels Promotional Poster

A new promotional poster for Star Wars Rebels has made its way online today, and it features a cool image of a TIE Figher and reads, when translated, “Enlist – The Empire is the Future.”

    empire-enlist-big3

All the promotional posters for Rebels being put out so far focusing on the Empire have been really cool, and while I can’t wait to start seeing some actual images from the show, I wont complain if we keep getting more cool posters like this!

RD-D2 Confirmed To Be In Star Wars Episode VII!

Well it looks like we got our first confirmation as to what classic character will be returning for Episode VII, and it’s none other than everyone’s favorite astromech droid, R2-D2! It was confirmed today that R2 will be in the movie over at the official Star Wars Blog, where they shed some light on the image that was revealed last week showing J.J. Abrams and Kathleen Kennedy with an R2 unit, along with two other men in the photo, who have now been revealed as Lee Towersey and Oliver Steeples, fans and members of the worldwide R2-D2 Builders Club, and who will now be working on Episode VII. How cool is that?! Below is a portion of the article from the official Star Wars Blog:
    [blockquote cite=””]

    BZDej1FCIAAH5Y3

Meet Lee Towersey and Oliver Steeples, Star Wars fans and members of the worldwide R2-D2 Builders Club. They create fully functioning, film-accurate astromech droids like the R2-D2 seen in the photo, and they’re officially part of the Creature Effects team for Star Wars: Episode VII. They didn’t apply for their jobs, but still had what is probably the best reference one could hope for.

“It all started when Kathleen Kennedy toured the R2-D2 Builders area at Celebration Europe this past summer in Germany,” says Steeples, who finished his first R2-D2 in 2007, after 10 years of collecting parts and researching. “She posed for pictures with us, looked at all the droids we’d built and was very complimentary. I mentioned that the R2-D2 Builders in the UK were available if required, as a semi-joke. When I was contacted to work on the film by [executive producer] Jason McGatlin, it was on her recommendation.”

    [/blockquote]

I find it really cool that Kathleen Kennedy brought on two people who made R2 units as fans to work on the movie, and shows that the passion you have for Star Wars can lead to some very cool things. Be sure to check out the full article about this story over at the official Star Wars Blog.

Our First Behind The Scenes Look At Episode VII

The official Bad Robot Twitter account gave us a nice little surprise today, as their latest tweet gave fans the first behind the scenes look at the production of Episode VII, with an image of J.J. Abrams, Kathleen Kennedy, and R2-D2! Below is the tweet from Bad Robot with the image:

Hopefully more behind the scenes photos will be on the way soon!

New Star Wars Rebels Image At Disney XD Website

While news on Star Wars Rebels has been a bit slow lately, a new image of a Stormtrooper from the series has shown up on the Star Wars Rebels section over at the Disney XD website.

    6c3cf8b32ab520b65d48093cecba5173ef0af4a8

The image seems to just be a place holder until the page is ready to provide more coverage of Rebels, but it’s a cool image none the less that gives us a better look at the Stormtrooper model, who looks to be standing in the halls of the Deathstar.

There’s not much to the Rebels page at the Disney XD website right now besides this image and the behind the scenes video that premiered on StarWars.com during the New York Comic Con, but I’m sure new content will be on there in the near future as we get closer to the show’s premiere, and you can count on the Rebels Podcast to bring you all that new information once it gets revealed!

Episode VII Will Release On December 18th 2015!

[blockquote cite=””]With pre-production in full-swing, a confirmed release date of December 18, 2015, has been set for Lucasfilm’s highly anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII.

Star Wars: Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams (Super 8, Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek) and is being scripted by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan (Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi). It’s great to finally know when exactly we will be sitting in a theater for a new Star Wars movie! And while it will be different having a Star Wars movie come out December, I’m glad they’re taking the time they need to give us a great Star Wars movie.

J.J. Abrams Talks Some Star Wars In A New Interview

Episode VII director and co-screenwriter J.J. Abrams recently did a new interview with The Times Magazine, where of course the subject of Star Wars came up, and he shares his thoughts on the fan bases for the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy, as well as how he loves the fact that A New Hope brought audiences to a new unfamiliar world. You have to be a subscriber to The Times Magazine to read the full interview, but here are some the highlights of the article that focuses on Star Wars:

[blockquote cite=””]His thoughts on the infamous video “4 Rules to Make Star Wars Great Again.”: “I would say that’s  a feeling that we share very much …” Speaking of him and the crew.

On how A New Hope was an unfamiliar new world: “I loved how Star Wars had that sense of a world far beyond the borders of what you can see and have been told – it’s one of the things it did so brilliantly. If you watch the first movie, you don’t actually know exactly what the Empire is trying to do. They’re going to rule by fear – but you don’t know what their end game is. The beauty of that movie was that it was an unfamiliar world, and yet you wanted to see it expand and to see where it went.”

Understanding the fan bases for the original trilogy and the prequel trilogy: “A lot of kids who saw all the prequels when they were young really do identify with those movies as much as my generation identified with the originals.”[/blockquote]

He of course didn’t reveal any new information about Episode VII, but I for one was glad to hear that he understands that the prequels have a strong fan base just as the original trilogy does.

Dave Filoni Looks Back on Season 5 Of The Clone Wars At StarWars.com Part 2

Part 2 of the official Star Wars Blog’s interview with Dave Filoni just went up, where he shares more of his thoughts on season 5 of the Clone Wars. In part 2, he looks back at developing the Darth Sidious fight against Darth Maul and Savage Opress, Darth Maul as a character, and Ahsoka’s big arc at the end of the season. Here’s a portion of the interview:
    [blockquote cite=]

StarWars.com: Can you talk about Maul and Savage versus Sidious? How you depicted it onscreen and the choreography and how it came about?

Dave Filoni: Well, that was definitely one of our biggest challenges, Maul and Savage versus Sidious, because we wanted to have an epic lightsaber fight. We hadn’t really had a big one in awhile, and I really thought this is our chance to show everyone why Sidious is the Sith Lord. Why no one can compete with this guy.

What was great was that we had two massive sword fights in a row. We had Vizsla versus Maul, and then we had Maul and Savage versus Sidious. You can do a bit of your own Palpatine-ing there with your artists and get them competing with one another to be the most dynamic, as far as staging goes. And that’s totally what I did. I pitted them against each other. [Laughs] I really wanted it to be this exciting, dynamic fight, and we had special meetings devoted just to the style of the fight and the staging of the fight. And with a little bit of research, Kilian Plunkett and I realized that Sidious probably had two lightsabers. Because he fights Mace Windu [in Revenge of the Sith] and then loses his lightsaber, and then he has another one when he fights Yoda. And when we researched it in the archive, fans would be excited to know that we actually found that there were two lightsaber hilts. They’re very similar, but there are slight color differences and things between them. So we thought that gave us all the leverage we needed to have him fight with two lightsabers, which I think turned it into a really exciting, phenomenal battle. Like everything we do, it was actually tremendously longer, and we had to cut it much shorter to actually get it onscreen. But the fight inside the palace was probably three or four times as long between Sidious and them, and then when they went outside, I tried to keep as much of that intact as possible, but they fought a longer duel up on the balcony, as well.

The Vizsla fight, if you can believe it, was actually longer, too. And it’s hard to believe, because I kept cutting that thing down and cutting it down. At the end of the day, with Sidious, nobody was really going to be able to touch him. He had to be the strongest, most dangerous guy. And you could see at a certain point, he just puts his lightsabers away at the end of the fight and says, “I’m done with this,” and goes in and mauls Maul, so to speak. I love the part where Maul begs at the end, because that’s the thing about Sith. At the end of the day, if you break them…

    StarWars.com: They’re very afraid.

Dave Filoni: Yeah, they’re very afraid. They’re motivated by fear in the beginning. Most people that are terrible and evil, even in our own world, why are they so? Well, they’re motivated by fear and then they create terrible things. And Sidious is the devil himself. There is no mercy.

StarWars.com: I wanted to talk about Ahsoka. My feeling is, if it wasn’t clear before then it definitely is after the four-part finale, that she’s the main character of The Clone Wars. It’s really about her journey and her growth, and her leaving the Jedi Order symbolizes a lot about what the war has done to the Jedi. Was where she ends up at the end of Season Five always the intended path for her?

Dave Filoni: For me, yes. [Laughs] I have always been in the “Ahsoka lives” camp, though, if need be Ahsoka would die. I don’t have a problem with that if the story demands it. I’ve always thought Ahsoka’s existence is tied to two things: A) if we can come up with a story that’s good enough that George said, “Okay, she can keep going,” and B) if fans likes the character enough that we can all say, “Okay, she can keep going.” Those are two pretty important things.

Her ultimate point is that the Jedi are aware of Anakin’s shortcomings. They’re not naive to it. Yoda, in particular, talks to Obi-Wan and they give him this Padawan, saying, “Knowing Anakin as we do, he will not want this girl to be around. He’ll resist it. But if and when she wins him over, he will bond with her like everything else he does. Like R2-D2, like Obi-Wan, like Padmé. But this girl will be different, because he’ll basically raise her. She’ll be trained by him, and he will see in the long run that she overcomes her fears and she becomes a Jedi, and she does not need him. But she respects him and they become equals, and Anakin needs to learn this so he can let go.” And Yoda knows this is critical for Anakin. If you look at her episodes, as early as when she rescues Plo Koon from the Malevolence, and she’s learning from Anakin how to disobey orders but still be creative within following orders. And then she has a big failing when she goes to Ryloth and all these pilots die, in a way, because of her error, and she has to overcome her fear that she’s going to let them down again. She’s learning. Then we see a big, critical episode arc where Anakin and Luminara kind of compare Padawans, Barriss and Ahsoka. And that arc, I think, really set an interesting tone for ourselves and for the fans. We were trying to illustrate the difference between the way Anakin is raising his Padawan, and how much he cares about her, and the way Luminara raises her Padawan. Not that Luminara is indifferent, but that Luminara is detached. It’s not that she doesn’t care, but she’s not attached to her emotionally.
